Bark Control Dog
***
If you are looking for a bark control for
your dog, you should try to determine what causes the dog to bark. Barking
is a natural response that dogs have to all kinds of stimuli, so you need
to find out what triggers periods of excessive barking. It is not a
realistic expectation to think you can eliminate all barking because this
is the dog’s method of communication. If your dog is left alone for long
periods of time without outside exercise, it needs a way of releasing pent
up energy and often does this through barking. After a while, the barking
becomes enjoyable for the dog, but annoying to your and your neighbors.
One way to control the bar of a dog is to spend time with it exercising. A
dog that gets plenty of exercise is too tired to bark all night and will
sleep when everyone else sleeps. Obedience training helps the dog learn to
respond to commands and when it does this you can control the dog’s
barking episodes quite easily. A dog that spends a lot of time in the
backyard also needs to get used to the neighborhood, so it will recognize
the various sounds that might be causing it to bark. Of course, other
barking dogs don’t help, because when one dog starts to bark, they all
start.
You have to be consistent when trying to control the dog’s bark. If you
ignore excessive barking on one occasion and punish the dog for it on
another occasion, the dog will be confused and not learn when to stop. If
you teach the dog commands such as “no”, “quiet” or “Stop barking” when it
starts you will be able to reduce the barking episodes and keep them to a
minimum.
