Barking Dog Neighborhood
***
A barking dog in the neighborhood is often
the source of complaints by many people because of excessive barking that
annoys everyone. Some cities and towns have ordinances against excessive
barking and the owners are liable to fines if barking continues and there
are a lot of complaints from neighbors. Owners have to find humane ways of
controlling the barking so that both the dogs and the neighbors are happy.
One way of controlling a barking dog in the neighborhood is through
barking sensors that work outdoors. When these sensors, when a dog barks
within a 25-foot radius of the device, a high-pitched sound irritates the
dog and it immediately stops barking. This sound is very unpleasant to the
dog’s keen sense of hearing and helps to condition the dog not to continue
to bark. The sound is only audible to dogs, but there are systems where
the owner can set the device so that humans can also hear it. This is
usually done to test the device to make sure that it works.
Owners sometimes install these sensors in their backyard, but neighbors
can also install them near their fences to control a barking dog in the
neighborhood or one that lives next door. When the dog barks and the
sensor picks up the sound, the bark activates the frequency. Although this
device is not effective if there are any obstacles in its path, such as
trees, it does work fairly well under most conditions. It comes with a
protective covering to keep rain and snow from interfering with the
operation and requires an extension cord and an outdoor electrical outlet.
It should never be used indoors because it can damage the dog’s hearing.
