Barking Dog Night
***
There is nothing worse than being wakened
from a nice sleep by the sound of a barking dog at night. Whether it is
your own dog or a neighbor’s dog it is very annoying. If this is an
unusual occurrence, a barking dog is the first sign that something is
wrong, but when it happened every night then you know that something has
to be done about the problem. You don’t want to make bad friends with the
neighbor’s because of the dog, so the best thing to do is to look for ways
to bring the excessive barking to a halt.
The first thing you have to do is find out the reasons for the barking dog
at night. Sometimes once you find the cause of the barking, the problem is
solved immediately. More often than not, however, this takes some time and
you do need to have a lot of patience. If the dog is barking because it
doesn’t like being outdoors, it is possible to bring the dog indoors
during the night, whether it is in the garage or you confine it to a
certain room of the house. Leaving the light on in the room also helps to
alleviate the barking.
Some dogs are very sensitive to every little sound and since everything is
quieter, a barking dog at night is much easier to hear. The sounds of
small nocturnal animals in the backyard may set off an episode of barking
or the dog may just be lonely. If you have toys that the dog can chew on,
it does take help with the barking because the dog is occupied with
something. You have to make sure that the dog gets exercise by walking it
or allowing it to run in the park (in areas where this is permitted) so it
can let off steam and then be tired enough to sleep during the night.
