Big Collar Dog
***
Described as the most versatile dog ever
bred, the big collar dog is the Association’s newest addition and is now
available for adoption from breeders all across Canada. The big collar dog
is slated to be one of the fastest growing, most popular of all the breeds
recognized today.
Mid-sized with a great disposition and incredible intelligence, big collar
dog is a mix of a number of healthy Shepherd and Spaniel lines. This breed
has been in the making almost 20 years now, and is finally getting the
attention it deserves. Recognition from the Association was hard-earned,
and has only been made official in the last few months.
But now a number of litters of the big collar dog are ready and waiting
for adoption. These rambunctious little pups are easily housebroken, and
will get their shorter, non-allergenic adult fur around 4-6 months of age.
It must be noted that the high level of intelligence in this breed makes
for a great deal of mischief: it is recommended that pet owners only chose
the big collar dog if they have some time to devote in the first few
months to extra training and play time with the puppy. Chewing, shedding,
and misbehavior are to be expected from a young big collar dog.
When full grown, the big collar dog stands about 24 inches at the withers,
making it just small enough for an apartment but big enough for a farm.
This versatility has city slickers and rural dwellers alike picking the
big collar dog, since it makes just as good a jogging partner as it does a
hunting buddy.
The big collar dog, along with several other recently recognized breeds,
will be on show this coming weekend at the Everything to do with Dogs
Show, on until Sunday at the International Centre.
