Collar Dog Pinch Training

Dog collar pinch training makes use of a
prong collar, or the German pinch collar. This collar is made of rows of
prongs linked together. There is a safety ring which rests next to the
dog’s neck and a “D” shaped clamp for attaching a leash. The pinch collar
looks lethal, but it is actually a pretty humane way to train a dog. It is
especially useful when trying to train a difficult dog. Although the pinch
collar looks intimidating at first, dog collar pinch training actually
mimics the natural training that takes place in a litter of pups - the
mother dog will often pinch a pup in the neck in order to get the small
dog to behave. The dog collar pinch training accessories on the market
today are designed to imitate this without injuring the dog at all. The
safety ring ensures that no accidental pinching will take place and the
design of a pinch collar also ensures that you will not injure your pet
during dog collar pinch training. Before starting dog collar pinch
training, you will want to make sure that you have the right collar size -
one that has prongs appropriate to your dog’s size. You also want to make
sure that you are able to fit approximately ½ finger between the tip of
the prongs and the dog's neck.

The biggest challenge of dog collar pinch training is to make sure that
your dog learns your commands and does not simply learn to respect the
pinch collar. When done improperly, dog collar pinch training results in a
dog that is well-behaved when wearing the pinch collar but ill-mannered
when without it. You don’t want your dog to use the collar as a crutch -
it is meant to be a training tool only. To prevent this, you must keep the
collar on your dog at any time you spend time with your pet, not just
during dog collar pinch training. This will ensure that you can always
give your dog a quick pinch for misbehavior. After some time of dog collar
pinch training, the dog will become so used to obeying your commands that
you will be able to interact with your dog without the collar. If your dog
reverts back to undesirable behavior, you will have to start with the
pinch collar and dog collar pinch training again.
