Small dog collar bark training is often
fraught with specific challenges. If you have a small dog, he or she may
still have a large bark - one large enough to keep you awake at night and
irritate your neighbors to boot. Plus, many people find the higher-pitched
barking of a small dog actually more irritating, so that you may get more
complaints over the bark of your small dog than over the barking of a
larger dog. Luckily, small dog bark collar training exists to keep your
dog from barking.
There are two ways to teach your small dog not to bark using collar
training. The first method requires more of your time and a soft training
collar. The idea is to keep your dog with you at all times. When your dog
starts to bark, you simply get their attention by using the collar and
tell them no. Often, just redirecting their attention from whatever your
dog was barking at in the first place is enough to stop the barking. Of
course, to use this method, you must be near enough to your dog at all
times to act swiftly whenever barking begins. This means not letting your
dog out in the yard at night, for example. This, then, is a an effective
and inexpensive way to try bark collar training your small dog, but it is
also one of the more time-intensive methods.
The other major way to try to bark collar training with your small dog
involves an electronic collar. This type of training collar, sometimes
known as an e-collar, works by dissuading your dog from barking. Every
time your small dog begins to bark, you activate the bark training collar,
and a sharp noise or an electronic stimuli is released from the collar,
startling your dog and redirecting your pets attention. The main
advantage of this is that you can activate many types of electronic
training collars remotely. That means that if your dog is in another room
or is in the yard, you can still activate the training collar as soon as
your small dog begins to bark. Experts think that this type of immediate
stimulus - which can be applied whether you are physically near your dog
or not - is one of the more effective ways to train your dog.
